Bloody Sex

Writer: Natalie LeslieNatalie Leslie

Lets discuss Sex during your period....

Many people are unsure if you should have sex during your period, the simple answer is, its your choice! Not everyone wants to, however it is very common for your libido to change throughout your menstrual cycle due to hormonal fluctuations, some feel turned on during ovulation which averages around 2 weeks into your cycle, whilst others report feeling more turned on during their periods. If you do feel turned on during your periods then you need to discuss with your partner if they want to have sex during your period, there is a high chance it will get very messy, and some partners may not like the thought of blood getting on them, on the bed sheets, on you and literally everywhere... it may end up being a "bloody" mess.

If you do decide to go ahead, it is advisable to put a dark coloured towel underneath to absorb some of the mess.

In some cases the thought of sex during your period is possibly the last thing on you mind, but some research has suggested that it can help with period cramps and also help reduce the length of the period, nothing concrete, but the suggestions are, whilst having sex; orgasms help the muscles contract and help push out the uterine contents quicker; and period cramps are a result of the Uterus contracting to release its lining, so during sex and providing you are having orgasms, the orgasm causes the uterus to contract and release, so the release should help with period cramps.
